What is integrative and functional nutrition?

Integrative nutrition focuses on the client’s story and works with other disciplines (e.g. therapists, physical medicine, acupuncture) to support optimal health. For example, I might recommend you connect with a therapist to explore a pain point that shows up in our session. Functional nutrition aims to identify the underlying causes of health problems while providing personalized nutrition recommendations based on your lifestyle and health history. No more one-size-fits-all treatment plans!

Do you work with clients that have an eating disorder?

If you have an active eating disorder or are newer in your healing journey, you would be best served by another provider who specializes in eating disorders. I do work with many people who have experienced eating disorders in the past and are further along in their healing journey. In addition, I work with folx that experience binge eating behavior and other disordered eating patterns.

Can you help me with my weight loss goal?

As a holistic practitioner, I am focused on helping you restore balance in your body. Weight loss may occur when we address the root causes of your digestive and health concerns, though not always.

If you are plagued with food thoughts all day and cannot stand the idea of going on yet another restrictive diet to lose weight, BUT feel stuck about what to do next AND if you are willing to explore a whole new way of understanding why your body may be at it’s current weight (buckle up- it’s complicated with MANY factors your doctors never told you about), then you are ready to work with me!

What is the difference between “Nutrition & Health Coaching” and “Nutrition Counseling”?

With “Nutrition & Health Coaching,” you will receive a personalized nutrition treatment plan AND additional support and accountability on a weekly basis to implement your plan.

If you are more interested in starting with building a personalized nutrition treatment plan, start with Nutrition Counseling.

What is the difference between a nutritionist and a registered dietitian?

The distinction lies in their qualifications to give nutrition advice. There is no national regulation on what education and work experience one needs to be considered a nutritionist, so in some states, anybody can call themselves a nutritionist without proper training. Always ask someone about their training and background before working with them.

To practice as a registered dietitian (RD or RDN) in the United States, you need to earn a minimum of  a bachelor’s degree in nutrition sciences, complete a dietetic internship program with 1200 hours of supervised practice, pass a national exam, and continuing earning professional education credits to maintain registration.
